Purpose of the Foundation
The BHPLF is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation which recognizes the importance of providing literary and educational services and activities to the public through the Berkeley Heights Public Library and the benefit of providing public funding for additional programs of that kind and nature. The Foundation will work with the Library and Library Board to raise money through private, general public and corporate contributions so that such programs, activities and capital projects may be provided to the general public. The funds raised by the Foundation are not to be used for funding the day-to-day operations of the Library.
Message from Lavinia Boxill, President
I have had the privilege of serving as President of the Berkeley Heights Public Library Foundation since its inception in the Fall of 2005. I believe that the Library plays a critical role in our community and that is why I am happy to both chair the Foundation Board and share my expertise in fundraising.
When you think of the Library, you may first think of books. But when you really sit back and think about how you, your family and neighbors use the Library, it's about much more. The Library will always serve as a place to obtain information, but in our culture where information can be obtained with a few key strokes, the Library remains an important resource where people gather to create ideas, exchange information and share experiences. Whether it be their perusal of the latest bestseller or DVD release, viewing works of art by local artists or enjoying children's performances, the Library serves residents as a cultural hub for the community.
The Berkeley Heights Public Library Foundation was formed to support the Library and all that it does for our community. We are always looking for interested volunteers and donors to join us in our fundraising and community awareness activities. If you would like to learn more about the Foundation and upcoming projects, please email us at the address on the right.
